Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach

The Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of managing a high school varsity baseball program. This includes athlete development, practice planning, game-day coaching, and fostering a positive team culture. The ideal candidate is passionate about student-athlete growth, committed to sportsmanship, and knowledgeable about baseball strategies, rules, and safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.

2. Exhibits loyalty to the Head Coach and GNBVT sports programs.

3. Assist the Head Coach in organizing and running practices, games, and team meetings.

4. Help develop players’ skills, teamwork, and understanding of the game.

5. Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting academic and athletic success.

6. Support game-day operations including warm-ups, coaching bases, and in-game strategy.

7. Travels with student athletes on the team bus both to and from games.

8. Maintain equipment and ensure safe, well-organized practice and playing environments.

9. Enforce team rules and school policies consistently and respectfully.

10. Supervises students in locker rooms and ensures appropriate behavior.

11. Attend all scheduled games, practices, and meetings.

12. Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff, and administration.

13. Uphold high standards of conduct, ethics, and sportsmanship.

14. Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes on and off the field.

15. Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times.

16. Ensures that medical and safety requirements are followed.

17. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches, and officials and resolves conflict in a professional manner.

18. Appropriately maintains and secures confidential student records and inquiries.

19. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with student, parents, community, staff and the media

20. Completes and maintains appropriate certifications as required, including MIAA Coaches Certification requirements.
