DEFINITION

The CNC and Complex Systems Maintenance Technician will be responsible to perform, schedule, oversee, and perform tool life management maintenance for all Robots, CNC, PLC and other logic-controlled systems. The Technician will be required to make the approved computer controller programing modifications to accommodate minor changes in material and other processes.  The Technician will also troubleshoot equipment failures and determine the likely cause of failure and then make appropriate decisions to return system to operational service. In addition, the maintenance technician will be responsible to perform facilities repairs and services to adequately maintain facilities. Also, responsible to create and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule over assigned machines, keep records on maintenance jobs and tasks performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Systems Maintenance Technician

The primary responsibilities for the maintenance technicians are to ensure that the following systems are functional.

 

  • While working in a team environment, the individual must coordinate, maintain and manage all assigned machines and equipment throughout Progress Mfg. facilities.
    • Communication, cooperation and planning are critical to accomplishing job duties. 
    • Be Goal oriented and seek continual improvement in assigned areas and responsibilities.

 

  • Production Equipment
    • Technician is responsible to coordinate repairs and services with Production Manager and other maintenance personnel.
    • Maintain Downtime Records.
    • Monitor equipment for indications of failures.
    • Maintain records that capture maintenance time and expenses.
    • Assists manager with budget preparation and management.
    • Reactive maintenance (Repairing down machines).

 

  • Preventative Maintenance
    • Manage and preform tool life on all Machining Centers.
    • All records are maintained using a Computer Managed Maintenance System (CMMS).  All work orders and preventative duties are completed routinely.
    • Maintaining and updating data entry and tracking is mandatory.
    • Adjust or correct service interval as required.
    • Ensure required consumables are on hand and inventory is correctly managed.

 

  • Facilities Maintenance
    • Have the skills and ability to fabricate items to support facility.
    • Maintain, repair and upgrade compressed air system.
    • Electrical (Lights, Plugs etc.)
    • Plumbing (Sinks, Toilets, Water lines to machines, etc.)
    • Maintain and repair office areas and office furniture.
    • Physical Structure (Doors, Windows etc.)

 

  • Maintain or increase safety at the workplace in all functions.
    • Following Lock out Tag Out procedures
    • Inspections of machines and vehicles.
    • Buildings and machinery should be examined for needed improvements.

 

  • Maintain a clean and organized tool room and maintenance supply areas.
    • Ensure each work area is properly cleaned and items put away.
    • Follow and sustain company 5S program.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

·   Education: Completion of a 2 year post high school degree in maintenance technology or equivalent training is preferred.

 

·    Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician, Electrician or other complex system maintenance and repair.  Must be proficient in machine operations that include robotics and CNC machining.  

 

  • Skills:
  • Must have a working knowledge of Office applications
  • Must be able to write and understand CNC machining codes G and M
  • Must be able to write and understand Fanuc controls and coding
  • Setting up and calibrating machines, jigs fixtures and tooling for a variety of jobs
  • Practical knowledge of production processes particularly automated and computer-controlled      manufacturing machinery.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert fractions
  • Must have practical knowledge and experience of industrial electricity.
  • Must have practical knowledge of basic mechanical systems.
  • Must have practical knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Must have practical knowledge of basic plumbing systems.
  • Must have practical knowledge of compressed air systems.
  • Problem solving / Trouble shooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Creative, self-motivated, and team oriented with the ability to take a project from conception to completion.




ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expected to participate in a variety of goals & projects to achieve continual improvement.
  • Communicate status of special projects and normal duties effectively with supervisor.
  • Ensure required consumables are on hand and inventory is correctly managed.
  • Be certified to safely use the forklift, & pickup trucks.
  • Spend necessary time communicating & attending meetings.
  • Machines and Equipment Commonly Used:
    • Welders
    • Digital and analog testing equipment.
    • Drill Presses, Saws, Hydraulic and Pneumatic production equipment.
    • Automated and manually control machinery.
    • Hand operated power tools
    • Common mechanical hand tools
  • Review and revise SOP as needed.
  • Perform 5S Audit
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
