Sector Partnership Managers connect the College with employers to ensure provision reflects current and future workforce needs. By acting as industry specialists, they shape curriculum, secure meaningful opportunities such as placements and recruitment pipelines, and foster strong employer links. This post focuses on Business and Service Industries, an area at the heart of Liverpool’s economy and central to the College’s identity as The College for Business. It provides the opportunity to expand employer partnerships across hospitality, retail, financial, and professional services, enhancing opportunities for students while strengthening the College’s reputation for meeting business and service sector skills needs. This post also offers the unique opportunity to maximise the training and commercial benefits of our Academy Restaurant, Bakery, and Hair and Beauty Salons. 

Reporting to Head of Business Development & Employer Engagement

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and manage partnerships with employers and industry stakeholders within a designated sector. 
  2. Alongside curriculum teams and leaders, act as the internal sector expert, maintaining knowledge of industry trends and skill demands. 
  3. Work closely with Heads of School and Directors of Faculty to align employer partnerships with curriculum needs. 
  4. Collaborate with the Head of Business Development and Employer Engagement, and Vice Principal
  5. Curriculum Development and Innovation, to inform new provision based on sector intelligence. 
  6. Facilitate work-based learning opportunities, ensuring placements meet health and safety standards. 
  7. Coordinate employer advisory boards and integrate industry feedback into teaching and learning. 
  8. Lead or contribute to sector-based initiatives, academies, or projects (e.g. Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, LCR Business Growth Initiatives). 
  9. Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to promote sector partnerships and events. 
  10. Organise sector-specific engagement events and employer networking sessions. 
  11. Provide proactive account management for partner employers and stakeholders. 
  12. Champion diversity in sector engagement and encourage inclusive employer practices. 
  13. Report on sector partnership activities and outcomes, using CRM tools for tracking.

  • To take a proactive approach and responsibility for personal professional development, Health & Safety, and meeting other regulatory compliance (e.g. GDPR, Safeguarding), thereby enabling safe and professional working practices to be observed at all times. 
  • To support cross college actives as required, particularly during key enrolment and invigilation periods.
  • Carry out any other relevant and appropriate duties as determined by the needs of the service and as appropriate to the grade.
Due to the changing nature of our work, this role profile serves as a framework to outline the main areas of responsibility. You may be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within the remit of your area of work.

  9. Problem-solving and negotiation skills to maintain partnerships. 
  10. Genuine enthusiasm for supporting student success through employer engagement. 
  11. Commitment to professionalism, inclusion, and safeguarding.

Desirable Criteria 
  • Understanding of FE training, apprenticeships, and placement structures.
