Job Purpose

A Production Planner is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule. This role involves planning and organizing production schedules, assessing resource requirements, and managing workflow to meet production targets. This is a key responsibility within the 5 CPL Manufacturing division and involves working closely with Divisions Local planner, Formulation Management & the General Manager/Operations Manager. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identify and address shortages or overages to maintain optimal inventory levels and assist the local production planner in reviewing raw materials, solutions, and bases for each works order. 
  • Inform the local planner if a partial quantity is available in stock by informing the bulking up procedure. 
  • Assist and coordinate with FM to address orders that have minimum weighting guidelines. 
  • Check for special manufacturing instructions on works orders and inform the local planner. 
  • Firm Works and Release Orders in D365 if there are no shortages. 
  • Adjust yield (wastage) for firmed jobs based on divisional requirements. 
  • Assist the local planner in releasing works orders to the factory based on priority and planned production completion dates. 
  • Help divisions if local planner is unavailable to print customer order pack sheets for both customer orders and stock jobs and inform the operations manager. 
  • Work closely with local planner and operations manager to resolve issues and improve processes and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. 

Skills and Attributes Required

  • Bachelors/Diploma in the related field  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work autonomously. 
  • Flexible & Punctual 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.  
  • Ability to work under pressure, analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions. 
  • Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365) preferably D365.
