Job Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE

We are looking for a time served Electrical Assembly Engineer that will be responsible for ensuring that our equipment and machinery is wired to a high standard, within expected timelines. Helping the team provide an Exceptional Customer Experience by achieving our Operational Excellence goals of on-time shipments, zero warranty, and vertical start-ups at our customers facilities. Whilst driving continuous improvement, promoting good teamwork and acting in line with the company’s policies and values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assembly / wire control panel back plates, mount electrical field wiring components, cable management to Customer Specification & BWIS Standards, ensuring all associated labelling is in place

  • Read and analyse electrical wiring and schematic diagrams, bills of material and specifications

  • Communicate any build and documentation issues to Operational Leadership and/or Engineering

  • Perform Earth, Rotation & I/O checks on control panel & machine wiring prior to handover to Controls Engineer

  • Sign off worksheet, to confirm quality checks have been completed

  • Fault tracing and reporting on packaging machinery & a wide range of static electrical site plant.

  • Assist with the electrical maintenance of our facility if required

  • Support internal and customer pre-delivery inspections

  • Dismantle equipment and assist with packing and loading if required

  • Attend customer sites if needed, to unload, installation, and service equipment. Be that in the UK or overseas

  • Offer guidance and support to supplementary electrical assembly labour when required. Ensuring that BWIS procedures, quality and safety standards are adhered to

  • Ensure that time is booked to the relevant manufacturing order in ATM, and signed weekly timesheets are passed to the Operations Planner & Team Leader no later than 10am on the following Monday morning

  • Providing training, guidance, and support to apprentices and other members of the assembly team to increase their skills and knowledge base

  • Identify process & product improvements and innovation opportunities utilising L3 tools

  • Support the integration of new product lines being adopted by BWIS

  • Clean and organise all equipment and work areas, ensuring they are always free from hazards and customer ready

  • Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, current legislation and BWIS company policies & procedures

  • Ensure safety glasses and shoes are always worn in the assembly areas along with addition PPE when required

  • Be available & have flexibility to work overtime on evenings and weekends if or when it is required

  • Prepared to travel when required both Nationally & Internationally which could be at short notice

  • Attend training courses to support your duties and development. Which may not be held at Doncaster and require travel both in the UK or overseas

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years’ experience as an electrician or electrical assembly engineer, ideally in the packaging industry

  • Education in a relevant engineering discipline, Advanced NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills

  • PC skills in a Windows & Microsoft Office environment.

  • A self-starter with a ‘can do’ flexible attitude.

  • Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.

  • Drive and determination to succeed

  • Possess appropriate hand tools
