We uphold the highest standards of wellness and provide our customers with the best service. Do you enjoy talking to people? Are you seeking a multicultural environment at a TOP EMPLOYER company where you can develop your career?

Together with over 700 colleagues spread across all continents (with offices in Kuala Lumpur, Nairobi, Antwerp, Madrid, Bangalore, Glasgow, etc.), you will help us deliver on our mission "to help the people we serve improve their health, their well-being, and their sense of security." Our line of business serves over 500,000 customers worldwide. You will be located in our Cigna Health Solutions office in Bangalore, India, with the flexibility to work from home up to two days per week.

To strengthen our IT department, we are currently looking for a passionate Senior (.NET) Application Development Engineer to join our Squid Team, a self-organized, cross-functional team in the International Health Delivery Services Release Train within Cigna's International Markets. You are customer-oriented while keeping performance in mind. You maintain an overall view of all components of the applications in the scrum team's portfolio and know how to balance future-proof solutions with fast-to-market requirements. You have a business drive, a passion for technology, and a willingness to learn. Above all, you have a can-do attitude where you roll up your sleeves and get things done.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support requirement definition and transform these requirements into an appropriate architecture and solution.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for backend applications that support our claims handling processes.
  • Write automated unit and integration tests.
  • Formulate and propose improvements on both functional and technical levels.
  • Define technical guidelines.
  • Document the implemented architecture and solution.
  • Deliver quality code while keeping deadlines and business value in mind.
  • Collaborate in an international, cross-functional scrum team and the wider International Health organization.
  • Play a proactive role within the development chapter.
  • Work closely with other developers, the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Subject Matter Experts, and testers in your scrum team. You will be supported by the internal customer and our architects, as well as the Developer Chapter, the group of .NET developers across multiple teams.

Your Profile: We value traits like an agile mindset, passion, and positivism. We are looking for colleagues who take responsibility and want to make a difference. To collaborate in an international environment, English language skills are required (written and spoken).

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to articulate and structure ideas and solutions.
  • Five or more years of experience in .NET (backend) development.
  • Ability to convert functional analysis into technical design and estimates, working with our Architecture team.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
  • Eagerness to work on bespoke .NET components, as well as customize and configure imaging and workflow vendor platforms (Onbase, Kofax).
  • Strong communication, prioritization, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Enjoy driving solutions from conception to release.
  • Customer-oriented, creative, and inventive mindset.
  • Strong motivational and convincing skills.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and enjoyment of working in a global, multi-location team.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Development in .NET and MS SQL using Visual Studio.
  • Experience in any of the following is a big plus:
    • Previous experience with Agile methodologies (SAFe, SCRUM, etc.).
    • Experience with ORM Frameworks, Enterprise Library, NuGet, WCF.
    • Experience with ALM/DevOps tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps Pipelines).
    • Experience with Onbase or Kofax imaging and workflow products.
    • Experience with Windows Server infrastructure (including IIS).
    • GIT or TFS version control systems.

Our Offer:

  • A challenging job in an international and growing enterprise.
  • An attractive market-standard benefit package.
  • A role in an engaged scrum team with a good team spirit and open communication.
  • A development chapter and community that will help you grow in your role.
