Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a WaterCraft District Sales Manager to join our Watercraft team in a field position. The territory area covers Oklahoma, North Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, up to North Dakota. This role is responsible for strategically driving unit sales to Authorized Yamaha Watercraft Dealers within the defined territory. The position will maintain, develop and implement an effective sales strategy, including regular dealer visits to build strong, productive relationships with key stakeholders. Channel communication between dealerships and leadership. Support local retail activities as directed by the Regional Sales Manager. Candidate must live or relocate within the assigned territory.
What you'll be doing:
- Wholesale: Assure current Dealers are representing Yamaha product (Units, Parts & Accessories) based on size of market and conditions of marketplace.
- Retail: Assist current Dealer network in retailing product (Units, Parts, & Accessories); through National programs.
- Act as a business consultant to the dealer. Assist them to meet market demands for Yamaha Watercraft, create strong business goals for dealer in priority trade area and help them improve their overall business.
- Prospecting: Prospect for new Dealers and make recommendations to management of changes, additions, or terminations of Dealers in marketplace. Provide business planning input to new prospects assuring quality watercraft retail performance upon startup of new dealer - Conduct on the water demonstrations to new dealer prospects.
- Sales Training: Conduct dealership and On the Water sales training classes for dealership sales staff with all product lines represented.
- Submit 30 call/prospect reports per month.
- Travel within the district each week to assure the highest level of dealer satisfaction.
- Collect market information and share it with management, covering not only Yamaha dealers but also competitor details such as new products, programs, pricing, finance promotions, advertising, and changes or additions among dealers in the market.
- Complete Dealer Call Reports on a weekly/monthly basis.
- Fill out prospect reports, build relationships with competitive Dealers.
- Answer all questions and fill out monthly report within timely fashion.
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in the marine/powersports industry preferred
- 5+ years of experience as a sales professional preferred.
- Must be proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Job requires extensive travel within the defined geographic territory.
- Ability to work multiple weekends per month during boat show season.
- Ability to relocate to within the assigned territory.
- Valid Motor Vehicle license with few or no current violations on record.
- Must have the physical ability to lift and move boxes and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
