About the Department

Seeking an experienced and highly skilled Compliance Officer who will be responsible for ensuring agency adherence to all applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.  Responsibilities include developing policies and collaborating with executive leadership to ensure the agency operates with integrity.  Requires an understanding of tolling and transportation industry-specific regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures across all areas of the agency.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the compliance program and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Establish a system of internal controls to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement training programs for employees to ensure they understand their compliance obligations and responsibilities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant laws and regulations and communicate changes to management and staff.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues and incidents as needed.
  • Work with the executive team to manage risk and ensure legal compliance.
  • Provide legal guidance to management and staff on compliance issues.
  • Draft and review compliance-related contracts and agreements.
  • Assist with regulatory audits and investigations.
  • Provide regular reports to executive management on the compliance program's effectiveness and any areas of concern.
  • Assist in the preparation of compliance-related contracts and agreements.
  • Coordinate responses to requests for public information.
  • Work collaboratively with other divisions as needed to accomplish agency goals.
  • Perform other administrative duties as needed to support the compliance team.

Position Duties

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, law, government, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of the tolling and transportation industry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs.
  • Experience working in a compliance or legal environment is preferred.
  • Local government experience preferred.

Physical Demands:
Light Work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Minimum Qualifications

Position Type and Typical Hours Work:

  • This is a full time position. 
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday. 
  • Hours may vary based on the business needs of the department.
Work Environment:
  • There are no major sources of discomfort. 
  • A normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature controls and furnishings is provide

Reports to Position: Chief of Staff

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
