WSP is currently initiating a search for a Consultant, Traffic Engineer for our Las Vegas, Nevada office.

Be involved in projects with our Pacific Mountain West Traffic Engineering Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The individual will be part of a team of talented professionals delivering transportation and infrastructure projects within the region. This position will be exposed to a wide array of traffic engineering in our blended traffic design and operations team and will also support our clients’ success in a co-located environment.

Your Impact
  • Support clients on site in staff augmentation roles in an integrated and collaborative team environment by providing support with technical review of traffic studies, development submittals, permits, traffic control, field reviews, and addressing inquiries.
  • Provide technical assistance on traffic engineering studies, capacity analyses, safety analyses, operations analyses, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), signal system design, illumination design, signing and pavement marking design, and traffic control plans.
  • Perform basic professional traffic engineering work relating to conducting investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, roadways, pathways, intersections, signage, signals, pavement markings, and transportation corridors to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Under general supervision, collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, maps, technical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction. 
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook/logs.
  • Utilize advanced analytical technical in solving technical problems.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
  • Ensure that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific software (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCAD, Synchro, Vissim)
  • Familiarity with traffic studies and traffic control plans.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering. 
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
