About the Role:The Director of Workforce Safety & Resilience is an integral part of Latham’s Technology & Information Services team. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive strategies to ensure the safety and security of the company's personnel, including responding to security emergencies, while leading the development and execution of a comprehensive workforce safety strategy considering the unique risks and threats to colleagues in a global law firm stemming from both physical and social media incidents. This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:Other key responsibilities include:
- Providing guidance to partners and other identified stakeholders with regards to personal protection strategies for high net worth individuals (e.g., maintaining a professional social media presence, considerations for the titling of property, etc)
- Leading the Operational Resilience & Physical Security team including the overall responsibility for managing the physical security, travel security, and workplace safety program, including leadership responsibility for:
- Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery & Crisis Response
- Reviewing, consulting, and advice to the security aspects of workplace design
- Business Ownership of the firm’s access control system including appropriate door locks, cameras, panic buttons, and other workplace security systems
- Maintaining relationships with key third party vendor partners with expertise in security, evacuation, social media monitoring and resolution, to protect the personnel of the firm
- Acting as a leader during crisis and/or security emergencies, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective resolution, and briefing key leadership at appropriate intervals and with appropriate levels of detail
- Collaborating with external security vendors and law enforcement agencies both to enhance security capabilities and resolve emergent security issues
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Possess extensive experience in executive protection, preferably with a background in law enforcement or military service
- Demonstrate significant expertise in the area of workplace safety, including integrating security into workplace design and implementation of security control measures (e.g., door locks, cameras, panic buttons, etc)
- Exhibit strong knowledge of security techniques and best practices
And have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field; preferably an advanced degree
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience demonstrating progressive leadership responsibilities in a Federal law enforcement role (e.g., US Federal Bureau of Investigation)
