The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking to fill the full-time position of Research Scientist II. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team to support ongoing research and evaluation of programs using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.This position requires deep familiarity with the IPS framework and advanced technical skills in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The research scientist will contribute to a variety of studies focused on improving the economic and health outcomes of individuals with serious mental illness. The ideal candidate will work closely with research, clinical, and implementation teams to evaluate program outcomes, analyze complex data, and contribute to reports, presentations, and publications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct participant interviews and focus groups across multiple program evaluations
- Perform data analysis using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Stata) and qualitative methods (e.g., thematic analysis)
- Design and implement surveys using REDCap Cloud and Qualtrics
- Prepare literature reviews, reports, and manuscripts for publication
- Analyze program outcomes, particularly those related to healthcare and economic well-being
- Collaborate on the design and delivery of training or online educational materials, including healthcare information management content
- Participate in user experience (UX) research and testing for health-related platforms or interventions
- Support survey and interview guide development for ongoing projects
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and (3) years of professional research experience in Public Health, Healthcare Informatics, Social Sciences, or a closely related field; OR a master's degree in an appropriate field may substitute for (1) year of experience; OR a Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
Research Experience:
- Minimum (2) years of professional experience conducting research or evaluation related to Individual Placement and Support (IPS) programs or other supported employment services for individuals with serious mental illness.
- At least (2) years of qualitative research experience, including leading a minimum of (10) semi-structured interviews and developing
- At least (2) interview or survey instruments. Experience using at least (2) quantitative data analysis tools (e.g., REDCap Cloud, Qualtrics, SPSS, SAS, R, RStudio, Stata) in at least two distinct research or evaluation projects.
- Completion of at least (1) systematic literature review and contribution to at least (1) technical report or peer-reviewed publication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Conducted at least (2) UX research studies, usability tests, or human-centered design projects.
- Possess working knowledge of at least (1) healthcare system, behavioral health program, or economic support program,
- Demonstrated through a minimum of (1) year of professional or research experience.
- Designed and taught at least (1) online course in healthcare information management or a closely related field.
- Applied both descriptive and inferential statistical methods in at least (2) research or evaluation projects.
- Presented research or evaluation findings to stakeholders or multidisciplinary teams on at least (2) occasions.
