Job Description

General Service Worker (20 hrs.  per wk./ 52 wks. per year)

 Under supervision, performs routine tasks in the preparation and serving of various foods, hot and cold. Face-to-face contact with customers requires projecting a friendly and helpful attitude toward our customers and a high awareness of customer satisfaction. Heavy lifting is necessary.

Basic Function and Responsibility:

Characteristic Duties:

  • Participates in the proper set-up, maintenance, and clean up of work areas.
  • Takes customers food orders, portions and serves food to customers with a pleasant caring manner according to established procedures.
  • May assist in the preparation of vegetables, desserts, salads, sandwiches and other foods.
  • Performs routine cleaning and sanitation functions as directed.
  • May assist in the set-up and serving of catered events.
  • Supplies and restocks food or equipment areas as necessary.
  • Performs routine sanitation and safety functions of work areas and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:

  •  Reports to unit managers.

Supervision Exercised:

  •  May assist in monitoring and training of student employees.

Hiring Range: $24.30/hr to $25.57/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma preferred. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Steady employment history required.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operation with diverse staff.
  • Have good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an on-going basis.
