Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive System Administrator to maintain and support our IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our servers, networks, and business-critical applications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in troubleshooting, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where technology reliability is essential.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm


Key Responsibilities

  • System Management
    • Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and applications.
    • Monitor system performance and resolve issues to ensure maximum uptime.
    • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies.
       
  • Network & Security
    • Administer firewalls, switches, VPNs, and wireless networks.
    • Ensure data security and compliance by implementing IT best practices.
    • Perform system updates, patches, and vulnerability management.
       
  • Backup & Recovery
    • Manage backup solutions and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
    • Conduct regular testing of recovery procedures.
       
  • End-User Support
    • Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated hardware, software, and system issues.
    • Document troubleshooting steps and IT procedures for knowledge sharing.
       
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement
    • Assist in IT infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
    • Research and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance efficiency.

Technical Expertise

  • Operating Systems: Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server administration. Scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) preferred.
  • Network & Security: General knowledge of network topology, network security, Active Directory, and firewall technology. The role also involves staying up-to-date on IT security trends and information, and having the ability to develop and implement a security plan.
  • Virtualization: General knowledge of VCENTER and virtualization.
  • Software & Devices: Functional knowledge of wireless technology, smartphones, and tablets, as well as anti-virus/malware applications. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google G-Suite is also required.
  • Threat Detection & Response: This role supports advanced threat detection and incident response, including performing deep-dive log analysis, packet inspection, and event correlation across multiple systems. It requires the ability to analyze events and artifacts across Windows, Linux, and network infrastructure.
  • RMM and Authentication: Functional knowledge of RMM and a security two-factor authentication service is necessary.

Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience as Systems or Network Administrator required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Information Technology related field preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge in applicable areas of technology. Certifications such as those from Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA are preferred but not required.

Work Environment

Professional work environment.

Minimal travel to Coburn’s locations will be required. A dependable mode of transportation is required.
