Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a key member of our outpatient mental health team, responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to patients with diverse needs. This role includes conducting evaluations, managing medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care in a supportive environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP or PMHNP-BC).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical psychiatric experience (5+ years preferred).
- Knowledge: Familiarity with The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DHS, and state/federal regulatory standards.
- Additional Requirements: Must complete TB testing, drug screening, and background check upon hire.
Primary ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including history, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments.
- Formulate accurate psychiatric diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Manage psychotropic medication regimens, including initiation, titration, and monitoring.
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments for patients in acute distress.
Collaboration
- Partner with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other providers to deliver cohesive care.
- Participate in case consultations and team meetings to review patient progress.
- Refer patients to higher levels of care or community resources when appropriate.
Patient Education & Advocacy
- Educate patients and families on psychiatric conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
- Advocate for patient needs within the healthcare system and community support.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards.
- Monitor and adhere to DEA and state guidelines regarding controlled substance prescribing.
Professional Development
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric care through continuing education.
- Contribute to clinic quality improvement initiatives and professional growth opportunities.

- Occasional travel may be required for training, networking, or community outreach.
