$1,000 Sign on Bonus
(On-site) Aurora - will travel to all day programs (12 locations)
The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges; those who have suffered a trauma; and those at risk, to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Director of Program Development who demonstrates this mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference in the community.
Schedule Hours: Monday through Friday 8-4 or 8:30-4:30
What you will be doing?
The Director of Program Development is responsible for the evaluation, development, and implementation of engaging programs and services for individuals with ID/DD who participate in Community Day Services-On-Site (31U), Community Day Services-Off-Site (31C), At-Home Day Program (37U), and Individualized Day Programming with Enhanced Support. This position works closely with Managers, Directors, and the Educational Specialist to ensure day programming incorporates continuity and quality outcomes for all clients served. The Director will set a standard of excellence by supporting all day programs in a client-centered, hands-on manner and make recommendations consistent with AID’s overall mission and goals.
Essential job responsibilities
- Provides leadership in the development and implementation of client-centered services and supports in keeping with evidence-based and best practices of design and delivery throughout all Community Day Service programs
- Provides leadership in the development and implementation of new, creative ideas for programming throughout all Community Day Service programs to increase client engagement and improve the quality of services for clients
- Provides training, in-services, or staff development activities to educate staff on best practices, program expectations, and client engagement to ensure quality programming and services are provided at all Community Day Service programs
- Provides feedback and recommendations for the physical layout of programming spaces and programming structures based on observation and first-hand knowledge of the clients and programs
- Provides input and assists in securing programming related materials through program budgets and grants, based on client needs and program enhancements
- Provides input, support, and solutions for collaborative projects and challenging client- centered situations
- Provides input and support to the Clinical Department to ensure clients have person-centered, meaningful outcomes that can be addressed during day programming represented in the client’s Personal Plan
- Provides leadership in the implementation of the sexuality education programming for clients with ID/DD
- Provides input, feedback, updates, and documentation to AVP/VP in relation to day programming Develops programming expectations, trains staff on client-specific programming, monitors programming implementation, manages documentation, and inputs billing for all clients with Individualized Day Programming with Enhanced Support
- Develops HCBS client activities/education materials and audits that all parties have submitted the necessary documentation for quality assurance
- Develops and implements a procedure for obtaining Programming Support Services (i.e., how to acquire support, what the support will consist of, what the training process will consist of, what the transition of responsibility phase will look like, etc.)
- Collaborates with QIDP’s, Manager, Directors, and Educational Specialist to ensure that programming is being implemented in accordance with DHS and AID’s Programming Department guidelines
- Collaborates and communicates with programs, program supports, and contracted service providers in relation to Community Day Services
- Encourages staff to be solution-oriented, creative, innovative, and to strive for excellence in order to provide meaningful programming and support to clients
- Promotes a positive, self-determination-oriented service culture which supports increased decision-making and independence for the clients
- Assists the Community Day Service Programs in securing and capturing of 31U, 31C, 37U, and 53D funds
- Contributes to the development and adherence of Community Day Service programming standards
- Seeks out opportunities for outreach and networking (i.e., outside agencies/service providers, community partnerships/engagement, workshops/conferences)
- Facilitates monthly programming meetings throughout all Community Day Service programs
- Researches and evaluates instructional techniques and materials to make recommendations for expanded/enhanced services and supports based upon emerging trends and needs of clients served Incorporates technology usage into Community Day Service programs
- Directs, monitors, and approves the selection and distribution of programming/instructional materials used throughout all Community Day Service programs
- Ensures program development and programming structure incorporates community integration and volunteering opportunities throughout all Community Day Service programs
- Observes clients and staff throughout all Community Day Service programs to offer feedback and recommendations for enhancements, revisions, modifications, and adaptations, across all client ability levels
- Oversees the process of clients working in the food distribution program
- Supervises and supports the Educational Specialist job position
- Serves as a member of the Sexuality Committee
- Serves as the Sexuality Rights and Advocacy Chairperson
- Serves as a Health Matters curriculum trainer within the agency
- Serves as a support to the Training Department by providing training to new DSP’s on topics that will enhance services for clients participating in Community Day Services (i.e., activity facilitation, differentiation, support hierarchy, self-determination, etc.)

Qualifications
What will you bring to the table?
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Human Services Field
License/Certifications: QIDP Certification, Education Background Preferred, Autism Certification/Experience Preferred
Experience: 3-5 years of working with individuals with ID/DD, Supervisory Experience Preferred

Additional Requirements:
- Must meet Illinois QIDP certification requirements.
- Must pass all modules of DHS sanctioned DSP training if not on registry.
- Must complete required CEUs for QIDP certification.
- Must have valid Illinois Driver’s License, good driving record, and have minimal liability auto insurance as defined by AID’s personnel policies
- Must acquire and maintain CPR, First-Aid, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Prevention
