JOB SUMMARY: Community Health Initiatives Manager will take a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to creating a health system that is more equitable for the communities we serve. The Community Health Initiatives Manager takes a hands-on approach with local institutions to develop programs that work to improve the health of the community New Settlement serves. The Manager will work with an interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of data collection, analysis and reports according to established guidelines and standards.
Job Duties include but not limited to:
- Explore new and build current programs for opportunities by meeting with potential partners and conducting analyses to expanded Community Health Initiatives.
- Create and implement evaluation plan; adjust program strategy accordingly.
- Manage and evaluate long-term relationships along with growing coalitions to coordinate shared goals and assess progress.
- Create and implement advocacy plan.
- Manage current and future funders through communication, site visits, and required reporting under Community Health Initiatives.
- Manage operations/evaluation of program management tools, facilitate team meetings, annual staff assessments, and identify challenges and possible solutions to support team.
- Develop and promote health discussions between public, civic, professional, and voluntary agencies.
- Researches, selects and /or prepares and disseminates educational and/or informational materials relevant to health promotion and disease prevention.
- Implement community surveys and collaborate with other health specialists and civic groups to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine the availability of professional health services.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Education and Experience:
- Experience planning health lessons and facilitating hands-on education for diverse communities.
- Experience overseeing and building programs initiatives that meet the needs of diverse populations.
- Experience working in or engaging with a low-income community-based setting required.
- Undergraduate degree in relevant field preferred.
- 2-3 years of previous supervisory or leadership experience.
Preferred Competencies Include:
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to coordinate with partners including schoolteachers and administration.
- Knowledge of or enthusiasm about Health issues as related to healthy living and uplifting.
- Committed to principles of racial, social, and economic justice.
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaker strongly preferred.
- Organized, upbeat, and flexible individuals strongly preferred.
- Solid written communication skills.
- Ability to work with frequent interruption, to make the best of limited space and supplies, and to simultaneously supervise a variety of tasks.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, problem solve and be flexible.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be cleared and maintain clearance throughout duration of employment by NYC DOE fingerprinting.
