About the Role

The Development Administrator plays a vital role in LaAmistad’s Development Department by ensuring accurate donor recordkeeping, timely gift processing, and effective donor communication. This position drafts donor letters, coordinates fundraising mailings, and provides administrative support for development events and campaigns.

This is an on-site position at LaAmistad’s administrative offices in Buckhead, reporting directly to the Development Director.


Key Responsibilities

Donor and Gift Administration

  • Process incoming donations (check log, online gifts, stock gifts) and ensure timely, accurate entry in the donor database.
  • Draft and send acknowledgment letters, tax receipts, and stewardship communications.
  • Maintain accurate donor records in Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce.
  • Prepare donor lists, reports, and mailing lists for appeals and events.

Fundraising and Appeals

  • Draft donor letters and coordinate annual and special fundraising mailings.
  • Support mail and digital fundraising campaigns to engage current and prospective donors.
  • Assist with donor stewardship and communications to strengthen relationships.

Event and Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative preparation for development events (guest lists, mailings, donor tracking).
  • Maintain the development calendar and coordinate appeal timelines.
  • Prepare donor reports and summaries for the Development Director and Board.
  • Conduct donor research and assist with cultivation activities as needed.
  • Handle confidential donor information with discretion.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in development, fundraising, or nonprofit administration.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with donor database systems (Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce a plus).
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive donor information.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

Team members may be required to:

  • Walk quickly across varying distances on our campuses
  • Lift and carry supplies or materials up to 30 lbs
  • Push rolling carts and climb multiple flights of stairs
  • Maintain adequate hearing and vision to meet the demands of the role
