Purpose

Provide support to the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Undergraduate Research team, assisting with planning, execution, and administration of undergraduate research initiatives, such as the Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP) and the Home to Texas (H2TX) program. The successful candidate will help coordinate events, assist with outreach and promotional efforts, perform administrative tasks, and serve as a student ambassador for COLA’s undergraduate research opportunities.

Student Technician will gain:

  • Practical experience supporting high-impact undergraduate research programs

Responsibilities

  • Help manage program logistics, including scheduling meetings, coordinating communications, and organizing event materials.

  • Provide administrative support such as tracking program participation, updating internal records, preparing program documentation, and managing routine email correspondence.

  • Assist with designing, updating, and maintaining the COLA Undergraduate Research website.

  • Assist with outreach by designing and drafting social media content, promotional materials, and/or outreach emails

  • Assist in the planning and execution of undergraduate research events, such as the URAP End-of-Semester Celebration/Symposium and the COLA Undergraduate Research Fair.

  • Help design materials such as event signage, URAP t-shirts, flyers, and presentation slides.

  • Coordinate meeting logistics, including sending scheduling polls, booking rooms, ordering catering, managing calendar invites, and creating Zoom links.

  • Serve as a student representative and ambassador for URAP, H2TX, and/or other undergraduate research programs/labs.

  • Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students through email and in-person interactions.

  • Assist with other special tasks and projects related to COLA undergraduate research, as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Previous participation in URAP and/or H2TX is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills and professional email etiquette.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and creative tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).

  • Ability to learn and work with internal administrative systems. Experience with the UT Web Editor is a plus, but not required.

  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Genuine enthusiasm for undergraduate research.

  • Availability to work 8–10 hours per week between 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday

Salary Range

$18.00 per hour
