Grain Elevator Superintendent (Grain Handling exp req) Description
Our client, a leader in the agricultural industry, is seeking a Grain Elevator Superintendent to oversee Grain Elevator operations at their Schiller Park, IL facility. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day grain elevator operations, lead a team of 6, and ensure safety, efficiency, and quality across shipping, receiving, and storage functions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on grain operations experience, be comfortable working outdoors in various conditions, and be willing to step in and perform operational tasks when needed. To succeed, you must be safety-driven, mechanically inclined, and adaptable during peak harvest periods.

Grain Elevator Superintendent (Grain Handling exp req) Responsibilities
• Supervise daily elevator operations and lead a team of 6 hourly employees
• Manage export container facility operations and daily shift meetings
• Perform inventory checks, blending strategies, and grain grading support
• Lead job briefings and safety checklists; complete safety permits as needed
• Manage inbound and outbound grain shipments, ensuring quality and compliance
• Conduct daily safety talks, audits, and ensure compliance with SOPs and permits
• Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and maintain preventative maintenance
• Train and develop hourly team members and support onboarding
• Operate facility equipment as needed and step in during absences or peak times
• Collaborate with leadership on cost-saving and operational improvements
Grain Elevator Superintendent (Grain Handling exp req) Qualifications
• 3+ years grain operations supervisory or 1+ yrs Elevator Operator (lvl 4) experience required
• Grain handling and blending knowledge required
• General mechanical aptitude (gearboxes, spouts, belts) required
• Familiarity with operating forklifts or heavy equipment required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel required
• Valid driver’s license required
