Summary: The Material Management Process Engineer Intern will support the development and implementation of efficient, cost-effective material handling and production processes aligned with product specifications and quality standards. This role emphasizes optimizing inventory management, material movement, and storage methods to improve operational efficiency and support the launch of new or revised products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Inventory Control, Production Planning, and IT to analyze workflows, enhance ERP system utilization and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Assist in developing and documenting engineering instructions for material flow, storage, and production processes 

• Analyze current inventory management practices and recommend improvements for accuracy, efficiency, and space utilization 

• Support ERP system enhancements related to inventory control, material planning, and production routing 

• Evaluate and improve material movement methods across departments and facilities 

• Design and implement optimized storage solutions for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods 

• Evaluate and approve drawings, routings, specifications, and related documentation 

• Design and procure tools or equipment to support material handling and storage improvements 

• Conduct training sessions for production staff on new material handling processes 

• Perform data analysis using Excel and ERP tools to identify inefficiencies in inventory and material flow 

• Assist in updating departmental policies and procedures related to material management 


Competencies:


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 

• Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred 

• Familiarity with ERP systems 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

• Understanding of inventory control principles and material storage strategies 

• Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and organizational skills 

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment 

• Practical and creative mindset with a strong desire to learn 

• Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as ratios, percentages, and geometry to real-world team 


Education and Experience:


• Two-year trade school degree with/or pursuing major in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
