The primary function of the Planning and Execution Manager is to oversee the planning, execution and reporting of Retail events to ensure alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives. This role understands the overall MX strategy and applies this strategy to ensure company objectives are implemented in each program. As a champion of Samsung’s customer journey, this position partners closely with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders to ensure experiences translate into brand loyalty, customer awareness, engagements and sales. In addition, the Planning and Execution Manager will develop and present merchandising solutions in assigned channel (Service Centers) to lead successful execution for key launches and programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the overall project manager to ensure flawless end-to-end planning, execution, reporting and closeout of programs
- Create and manage detailed project plans for each event, including timelines, milestones and rollout plans
- Build communication documents to support cross-department updates related to event plans, status and results. Provide insights and recommendations for future events
- Serve as front-line POC with agency/third-party vendors in program execution phase
- Lead post-event evaluations to assess the success and identify areas for improvement
- Create and implement planograms and floorplans that support Retail event strategy and execution
- Ensure product prioritization strategy is applied in the visual storytelling and planogram creation, aligning with event theme and strategy
- Develop and maintain the Retail Events Playbook outlining standard operating procedures, best practices, and templates for various event sizes and experiences
- Create finance-related documents including PP/BQMS submissions
- Partner with Service Center team to develop and align on merchandise plans. Lead planning, planogram, marketing, VMD needs and pack-lists to support MX launches
- Drive live-set testing of devices, visual elements and security to ensure successful GTM execution based on planograms and design renderings. Identify gaps. Seek out solutions with cross-functional partners when needed
- Develop knowledge of security device parts, function and installation requirements for assigned areas
- Responsible for event and reset deployment communications including instructions and pack-lists
- Create efficiencies with existing processes, improving implementation and innovating merchandising execution that drive engagement and sales
Necessary Skills and Attributes
- Ability to listen well, think strategically and creatively to solve problems, gain alignment and gain action through influence.
- Process-oriented, with ability to flex from high-level strategy to fine attention to detail.
- Exceptional oral presentation skills with proven ability to adapt approach based on audience; comfort presenting to a diverse audience from C-level executives to retail sales associates.
- Excels in judgment for balancing competing priorities and advance what matters most to the organization.
- Analytical problem-solving and strategic thinking skills; quantitative analysis skills with ability to develop and deliver a compelling story with data to support position.
- The ability to prepare and present reports to senior leaders on event results and feedback.
- History of managing ambiguity and complexity.
- The ability to work either independently or in a team environment to achieve personal and team project goals, including the completion of assignments within established timeframes.
Background/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree with 6-8 years’ experience preferably in events planning, visual merchandising, or project management
- Experience in strategic event planning aligned with organizational goals
- Ability to evaluate event success and drive pivots as needed, with experience in post-event reporting and analysis
- Leading cross-functional teams in retail merchandising strategies
- Experience building relationships with key internal and external cross-functional partners
- Experience working with a variety of vendors and suppliers
- Experience managing 3rd party agencies
- Visual Merchandising and Retail Operation experiences in corporate environment desired
- Strong aesthetic, visual design, communication and presentation skills
- Must have demonstrable experience in developing presentations using a variety of PC applications, including Word processing, Excel, and PowerPoint
