Who will you be working with?
L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to join our paint team. This position will work directly with other painters and paint supervisor on a daily basis to ensure production goals are met.
This position is a flexible part time position from 12:00pm to 5:00pm or 2pm to 7pm, Monday through Friday. More hours possible depending on production needs.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Paint Department, you will be responsible for supporting the finishing process by prepping parts, assisting painters, and ensuring products meet customer specifications. You’ll help maintain a clean and safe work environment, manage paint supplies, and follow detailed procedures to uphold quality standards. This role supports painters, supervisor, and quality control teams by ensuring smooth daily operations and timely communication of inventory needs. You’ll report directly to the Paint Supervisor regularly to keep production running efficiently.

- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment written math test, physical, drug screening, and background check.
- General computer skills for looking up specifications, job orders, and clocking in.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.
What will your typical day look like?
As a Paint Assistant, your day will be hands-on and fast-paced, supporting the paint department in delivering high-quality products. You’ll work closely with painters and other team members to ensure smooth operations and consistent results.
- · Prep parts for painting according to customer specifications.
- · Assist painters with applying primer, base coats, and finish coats.
- · Touch up painted areas to meet quality standards.
- · Maintain a clean and safe work area throughout the shift.
- · Monitor and manage paint supplies, filters, and equipment.
- · Communicate inventory needs and report issues to the supervisor.
- · Follow specific procedures (SP) for customer products.
- · Support other areas of production as needed, if qualified.
What about the physical demands of the job?
This role requires physical stamina and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll be expected to:
- · Stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- · Observe small writing, labels, and detailed specifications.
- · Lift, carry, and move materials as needed.
- · Perform repetitive tasks with hands and arms, requiring manual dexterity.
- · Wear required PPE, including safety-toed footwear, hearing & eye protection, gloves, and protective uniforms.
- · Communicate clearly with team members through talking and hearing in a noisy environment.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Entry Level:

- Regular and reliable attendance.

- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Manual dexterity based on past experience.

- Physical strength sufficient to perform job duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment written math test, physical, drug screening, and background check.
Minimum Qualifications for Application:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in manufacturing or similar field.
- Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP system
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
The hourly range for this role is between $18.00 - $26.00. The actual hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
