In this role, we are seeking a visionary strategist to elevate our vendor and external partner ecosystem, work closely with existing providers, and orchestrate opportunities to collaborate across business segments on behalf of Vanguard clients.
This role will lead and accelerate our engagement with existing partners such as Terrelex, Holistiplan, SEI, and Vanilla. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in strategy setting, an understanding of Wealth Management client needs, and the ability to develop scalable and effective processes. While the initial focus of this role will be on deepening relationships and outcomes with existing partners, the Head of Strategic Partnerships will also play a supportive role in enterprise client initiatives. This includes contributing to the strategic evolution of our wealth management offerings and enhancing how we deliver value to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
As a critical member of the Wealth Management Specialized Services leadership team, your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to deepen engagement with existing partners and mature how we work with partners to best serve our crew and clients.
- Identify and pursue strategic relationships, transition promising connections into structured, contractual vendor agreements, ensuring compliance and maximizing strategic value.
- Identify and implement operational improvements and enhancements to our wealth management offerings and proactively deliver on solutions with partners.
- Own relationship with key WM partners, representing Vanguard in working sessions and in other engagements.
- Navigate complex regulatory, cultural, and business environments to facilitate seamless integration of global partners.
- Champion cross-segment collaboration, acting as a strategic connector between different business units and partner organizations.
- Serve as a thought leader on partnership strategy, providing insights and guidance to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Represent Vanguard at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings.
- Continuously monitor market trends, competitor alliances, and emerging opportunities to inform partnership strategy.
Qualifications
- Minimum of ten years related work experience. Five years experience in vendor management and strategic engagements preferred.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
- Proven track record of developing, negotiating, and managing high-value partnerships with diverse organizations.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities.
- Strong understanding of contractual frameworks, vendor management, and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience driving cross-functional initiatives and leading teams through complex, multi-party collaborations.
