Summary:
To lead a team of merchandisers in the flawless execution of cosmetic merchandising strategies, ensuring that all displays, planograms, and promotional materials align with brand standards and drive measurable sales growth. This role is responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of section resets and special projects in designated retail stores, acting as a crucial link between brand marketing and in-store execution. The supervisor will make a positive contribution and measurably impact sales by fostering a team that is focused on creating visually compelling and operationally efficient sets. The supervisor’s work will directly enhance customer experience, improve brand perception, and contribute to the overall profitability of the cosmetic lines in their territory.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Lead Strategic Merchandising Initiatives: Provide day-to-day direction and supervision to a team responsible for the resetting of cosmetic, health, and beauty care sections. This includes participating as a team member to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of all reset work and special projects, ensuring that the work is performed in a manner consistent with company missions and values.
Execute Planograms with Flawless Compliance: Demonstrate strong merchandising skills and a keen eye for visual detail to read, interpret, and implement planograms—the foundational blueprints for product placement on shelves and displays. Ensure that products are strategically positioned to maximize visibility and encourage impulse purchases. This includes verifying that every product is "faced and fronted" to give an appearance of abundance, as empty space kills sales.
Manage Brand-Aligned Displays: Oversee the visual presentation of cosmetic products to ensure they are presented in the most appealing way possible, maximizing visibility and brand integrity. Implement strategies that go beyond simple stocking, focusing on how a display's color, lighting, and layout can influence consumer emotion and perception. Ensure that branded fixtures and promotional signage are properly utilized to communicate the brand's unique identity and story.
Leverage Technology for Real-Time Audits: Utilize mobile merchandising applications and digital platforms to perform on-site audits, take photos of completed displays, and report daily work in real-time. This includes documenting any instances of non-compliance, such as missing or misplaced products, to ensure accuracy and provide immediate corrective action.
Foster Team and Store Relationships: Provide training, evaluation, and management of team members in a compliant, fair, and effective manner. Ensure all team members have the necessary tools and information to complete their assignments as scheduled. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with store managers, district, and division management to facilitate merchandising efforts and address any inventory or operational concerns.
Conduct Proactive Troubleshooting: Continually strive to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team by identifying and resolving common issues like stockouts, damaged goods, or broken fixtures. Proactively identify opportunities to increase sales with recommendations for new items, improved product placement, pricing/promotional opportunities, and resolution for any supply or stocking issues.
Maintain Operational Excellence: Have a working knowledge of all assigned projects and be able to address issues and questions related to them. This includes tracking and reporting issues associated with attendance and/or performance and preparing a summary of work performed and future scheduling as needed.
Ensure Safety and Compliance: Ensure all team members are trained in and follow the company's safety guidelines, which include conducting safety audits. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Travel Requirement: Frequent overnight travel is required to manage teams and complete special projects across the designated territory.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
High School degree or GED required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
3+ years of retail merchandising experience, with a strong preference for experience in the cosmetic or health and beauty sectors.
Highly motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Proficient in reading and executing shelf planograms, with an understanding of how to implement brand-specific visual strategies.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and able to learn and utilize various computer and mobile merchandising systems for reporting and communication.
Capability to collaborate with others and contribute effectively to a team.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize, and multi-task.
Qualify as an insurable driver and maintain an excellent driving record.
A smartphone with internet/data access is required. This position may require the installation and utilization of an app on your smartphone to complete the requirements of the position. This may include, but is not limited to, requiring app permissions such as enabling location services, camera, and photo gallery access.
Must be able to provide personal tape measure and safety gloves to perform essential job functions.
