onsemi is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Senior Director of IGBT Technology Development to lead the development and qualification of cutting-edge silicon IGBT technologies for industrial and automotive power conversion applications. This leadership role is critical to driving innovation and commercialization of next-generation power semiconductor devices and modules power solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of power electronics, device physics, and fabrication processes, combined with leadership and communication skills to guide teams and collaborate with cross-functional department
Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of device, process integration and industrialization engineers.
- Drive the development and qualification of next-generation IGBT technologies and initial product implementations.
- Define and execute technology and product roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Manufacturing, Operations, Business Units, Program Management, Product Line Management, and Quality & Reliability.
- Lead cross-functional decision-making processes and ensure alignment across teams.
- Proactively manage risks and leverage best practices and lessons learned to ensure successful project execution.
- Identify and address potential reliability and manufacturability concerns early in the development cycle.
- Communicate project status, risks, and forecasts effectively to internal teams and executive leadership.
- Represent the organization in technical and strategic discussions with internal and external partners.
- Leading and mentoring engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Managing the entire product development lifecycle from concept to market release, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in high-voltage power semiconductor device development and processing.
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and complex technology development programs.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal—with the ability to influence and collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.
- Experience with systematic risk management and problem-solving methodologies such as FMEA, DOE, 8D, and RCCA.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage conflict constructively.
- Willingness to travel and work across time zones to support global teams.
