The AVP, IT Systems Administrator will play a critical role in managing and maintaining our IT infrastructure, ensuring the security and efficiency of our systems, and supporting the Core Banking Applications. This role will also be pivotal in our ongoing efforts to move services to the cloud and enhance business continuity. The Information Technology Systems Administrator is also responsible for the effective operation, performance, and maintenance of onsite, hosted, and cloud-based computer systems, networking systems, business applications, software, and hardware. This person must be willing to work with users, vendors, and internal teams in implementing, administering, and monitoring the Bank’s network systems, including identity and access management, security, and incident response. This position requires that the individual work in office, independently, and with minimal supervision.


Ensures compliance within all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the information systems infrastructure supporting business applications including client/server-related hardware, virtualization, cloud technology, software, networking, etc. both on-site and vendor hosted.
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics, metrics, and reports. Reviews daily logs and tickets (both internal and external) to ensure proper oversight. 
  • Prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate; serve as an escalation for issues; provide timely response to escalations. 
  • Reviews user account reports to ensure that access privileges have been deleted for all terminated or otherwise separated employees, contractors, consultants, and temporary employees.   • Assist in provisioning network, security, servers, and end-user services. Analyzes network and security alerts and performs investigations, and evidence collection.
  • Practice asset management for information systems including network, hardware, and software.
  • Supports, maintains, and enhances technical controls to prevent, detect, or respond to cybersecurity threats while in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. Works with vendors, and internal team to secure the Bank’s network through the operation of intrusion detection systems/intrusion prevention systems (IDS/IPS), data loss prevention (DLP) tools, enterprise anti-virus and anti-malware solutions, mobile device management, log management, and vulnerability scanning and remediation.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all systems, including servers, end-user workstations, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Maintains knowledge about modern and future technologies, researches the products and services to communicate their costs, benefits, risks, etc. to management, implements the technology and trains appropriate Bank personnel on its uses and benefits. Maintains a strong knowledge of industry practices, technology, and evolving threats in order to enhance defenses for the Bank’s information systems and resources.
  • Works closely with the Bank’s Incident Response Team in detecting, resolving and mitigating system and/or information breaches.
  • Adhere to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data residing on or transmitted to/from/through enterprise workstations, servers and other systems over the network, in databases and other data repositories.
  • Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.
  • Assist in updating and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure security.
  • Conduct research on server hardware, software and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and server/business application documentation.
  • Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes and vendor-supplied patches.
  • Offer guidance, assistance, and training to other IT Support Staff
  • Oversee the deployment, integration and management of security solutions following the information security program and industry best practices.
  • Provide support for regulatory and compliance audit requests.

  • Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time, supports the Bank’s goals and values and benefits the Bank through outside activities.
  • Minimum of 10 hours CRA volunteer hours per year. Volunteer hours are typically scheduled within business hours. This is compensable time and mileage is reimbursed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer technology or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Work related experience should consist of information technology, security, and technology operations. Educational experience, certification programs, or formal school, should be applicable to the information technology and security industry.
  • A minimum of at least 7 years PC, Networking troubleshooting/repair and cabling experience and have at least two current certifications. Preferably Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or other industry standard professional certification courses.
  • Demonstrated experience with administering enterprise services including client and server systems, security tools and applications, directory services, firewalls, IDS/IPS, security gateways, routers and switches.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating system fundamentals, networking fundamentals, network protocols, web applications, and critical security controls.
  • Basic knowledge of common attacker tactics, techniques and cybersecurity threats.
  • Advanced knowledge of current and upcoming IT technologies.
  • Excellent ability to diagnose and troubleshoot accessibility issues and service disruptions.
  • Intermediate experience with software and systems relevant to the position.
  • Intermediate experience with contingency and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Knowledge of Bank operations and lending products and services, related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures, federal banking compliance laws, rules, regulations and related Bank policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Advanced experience, knowledge and training in progressively responsible information technology department operations and management activities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and to identify and track architectural issues to resolution.
  • Advanced skills in information technology operations, voice and data communications, including but not limited to: host and desktop applications, and network administrative programs and resources.
  • Track record of ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the Bank.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Advanced skills in computer terminal, personal computer and mobile device operation, host computer system, word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software programs.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Intermediate math skills, ability to calculate interest and balance accounts, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, locate routine mathematical errors, and compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, read, analyze, and interpret documents and professional journals, understand procedures, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and project management skills for a variety of tasks or projects.
  • Ability to deal with difficult technical problems involving multiple facets, variables and situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:


The incumbent in the course of performing this position frequently spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, operating basic business equipment, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, walking, standing, reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, client contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and frequent interruptions. The incumbent for this position will occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, pull, squat, kneel and reach. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which they are free to move about at will. The work environment is typically quiet to a moderate noise level.


Travel: There will be occasional local, out-of-area, and overnight travel.
