- Assist with basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures
- Assist in rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components
- Develop an understanding of the operation, function, specifications, capabilities and controls of any piece of company equipment
- Complete all assigned documents associated with repairs in an accurate and timely manner
- Adhere to manager’s and lead mechanic’s directions regarding all repairs
- Adheres to all safety rules and maintains quality housekeeping in work area
- No formal responsibility for supervising others
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year or more of experience with assisting or helping repair equipment in the construction, automotive, or agriculture field
- Certificate acquired through a vocational or technical school
- 1 year or more of work-related experience with heavy equipment
- Good communication skills, including verbal, written, non-verbal, and listening skills.
- Good customer service skills with basic prospecting skills and the ability to meet and/or exceed customer expectations.
- The ability to uphold professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers, subordinates and customers
- Knowledgeable/good mechanical aptitude
- Moderate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office. Moderate experience using data base systems
- Basic knowledge of safety rules, laws and regulations concerning engine service, hydraulics, electrical, technical functions of various components and tooling procedures and capabilities
- Self-motivated
- Works under close supervision. Employee may act independently for reoccurring assignments, but supervision is readily available for unfamiliar situations or problems
- Major responsibilities do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Detailed instructions or established procedures are usually available as guidelines for most aspects of the job.
