Position Summary:
The role of the dishwasher is to ensure that the kitchen and dish area stay clean and organized.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment, such as dishwashers, sinks, and power sprayers, to clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
- Load and unload dish racks, ensuring proper arrangement and organization for efficient washing and drying.
- Sort and stack clean dishes, utensils, and equipment in designated storage areas.
- Inspect and remove any food residue or debris from dishes before loading them into the dishwasher.
- Hand wash delicate or oversized items that cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and slicers.
- Sweep and mop kitchen and walkin floors, removing any spills or debris to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Empty and clean garbage bins and recycling containers regularly.
- Assist in the receiving and storage of deliveries, ensuring that they are properly organized and stored.
- Adhere to proper food safety and sanitation guidelines, including using the appropriate cleaning chemicals and following established procedures.
- Notify culinary management of any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Assist in general kitchen duties and support other staff members as needed.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and aprons.
- Perform other cleaning and organizational tasks as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- No prior experience is typically required, although previous experience as a dishwasher is a plus.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy loads.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and sanitization of dishes and utensils.
- Basic knowledge of proper dishwashing techniques and sanitation procedures.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from kitchen managers or chefs.
- Good time management and multitasking skills.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Effective communication skills to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a hot and humid environment.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Physical agility and ability to bend, stoop, and reach to perform cleaning tasks.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist in various kitchen duties.
- Dependability and punctuality.
- Current State Food Handler Certification
