Presbyterian is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients in an Outpatient Clinic. Common responsibilities include preparing the patient for the visit, maintaining efficient patient flow, assisting the provider with treatments and procedures, medication administration, support for clerical functions to include scheduling, referrals, authorization and in-basket support with the EMR.

Type of Opportunity: Part Time (.5 FTE/20 hours per week)
Work Schedule: Monday – Saturday 12 hour days

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Qualifications:
- BLS required at time of hire
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prefer healthcare experience
- For MA II Applicants: Six months of MA experience or successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required
Perform medical procedures within scope under provider supervision
Assist providers during clinical procedures
Collect and prepare lab specimens
Provide basic foot care
Conduct regulatory audits if assigned
Support visit closure and documentation
Collaborate with care team to meet patient and clinic needs
Perform scribe duties after training
Carry out other duties as directed
Stock exam and procedure rooms using Kanban system
Maintain clean, safe, organized environment
Support clerical tasks including scheduling, referrals, and authorizations
Handle patient calls and in-basket messages
Schedule appointments and manage no-shows
Process prior authorizations for equipment, diagnostics, and medications
Manage referrals and track patient forms such as FMLA and Advanced Directives
Apply CARES principles to provide compassionate, responsive care
Communicate effectively with patients and families
Create a therapeutic and supportive environment
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to support clinic operations
Work efficiently and cooperatively to meet patient care goals
Prepare patients for visits using established guidelines
Collect accurate data and support provider during visit
Take patient calls and initiate telephone encounters
Communicate relevant patient data to providers
Use systems for scheduling, referrals, and authorizations
Operate medical equipment safely and competently
Follow standards of practice for patient care procedures
Work with care team to meet clinical quality metrics
Support process improvement initiatives
Demonstrate collaboration, accountability, respect, engagement, and service in all responsibilities
