We are looking for an SSDS Maintenance Trainer ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

Position/Job Description:  

Technical Trainer Maintenance to provide training support for Ship Self Defense System (SSDS MK2) and associated Combat System Components including but not limited to, Common Display Consoles (CDS), Processing Cabinets, Input/output adaptors, Network Servers, maintenance Consoles, and any other SSDS related peripheral equipment and components. The position is in Virginia Beach, VA and could include 10% Travel. The Technical Trainer will:

  • Develop, review and implement training for technicians in maintenance of Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) systems hardware and software, utilizing Electronic System Operator Manuals (ESOMs), Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETMs) and various other Technical and Tactical Manuals and Documents.
  • Develop, review and implement curriculum change packages for all formal SSDS Maintenance courses of instruction utilizing Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM) and Citrix CPM/LOM Software Programs.
  • Support shipboard training and testing events such as Mobile Training Teams for Combat Systems Ships Qualification Testing (CSSQTs) events, Accelerated Midterm Interoperability Improvement Project (AMIIP) events for CVN, LPD, LHD, LHA, and LSD Class Ships and other SSDS testing and training events.

Experience Requirements:

  • Former US Navy Senior Enlisted Fire Controlman (FC), Electronics Technician (ET) or Information Systems Technician (IT) with Training Officer/Training Petty Officer Experience.
  • US Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS) qualified (preferred).
  • Candidates should have experience with US Navy Combat Systems, Interoperability, Cyber Security and Networking (AEGIS, SSDS, ACDS, TADLs, CEC, etc.).
  • Experience with Authoring Instructional Materials (AIM) and Citrix CPM/LOM Software Programs.
  • Experience with one or more of the following U.S. Navy ship’s systems a plus:
    • Weapons systems to include the NATO Sea Sparrow Surface Missile System (NSSMS), Rolling Airframe Missile Guided Missile System (RAM), and Phalanx Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS).
    • Sensors to include the AN/SPY-6 (V2 & 3), AN/SPS-49 Air Search RADAR, AN/SPS-48 Air Search RADAR, AN/SPQ-9B RADAR, AN/SPS-67/73 Surface Search RADARs, AN/UPX-29 IFF Systems, and AN/SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare Suite.
    • Tactical Digital Information Links (TADILs) and Networking systems to include the Cooperative Engagement Capability System (CEC), Tactical Digital Information Links 11 and 16.

Educational Requirements:

  • Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent qualifications, and/or 5-8 years of related (tactical and technical) experience. US Navy 805A NEC qualified (Instructor).
