WORK OPTION: The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.
Position Summary:
This position will lead the Facilities Security group while strategizing how safety and security is managed at all NBA offices. The Head of Facilities Security & Special Projects will be responsible for assisting with all efforts related to the safety of NBA employees and our office spaces as well as managing a slate of special projects for the department.
Major Responsibilities:
- Drive processes leading to a positive safety and security culture for NBA employees, visitors, and guests; implement training programs and leverage technology to protect NBA employees and our offices from all hazards and risks
- Manage services providers, ensuring an effective risk-based program operating within a developed set of standard operating procedures. Provide feedback through quarterly business reviews and agreed key performance indicators
- Develop and implement a training process for facilities and security staff readiness
- Oversee the policies and procedures guidance documents for security practices, user operations escalations, crisis management, and incident documentation
- Assure NBA operations are consistent with industry best practices and the physical security strategy is aligned with the business needs of the NBA
- Communicate with appropriate law enforcement, intelligence, and threat assessment agencies to identify, quantify, and assess security threats to our offices
- Partner with internal stakeholders such as Real Estate & Facilities, Risk Management, Employee Relations, and Legal to ensure equitable solutions
- Lead the management of Security Department focused improvement projects
- Define project goals, objectives, and action plans; documenting summaries and routinely communicating with leadership to maintain alignment
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Formal education/training in security related matters is a plus (i.e., ASIS, CPP)
- Extensive relevant security leadership experience ideally within law enforcement, public service, or private sector security organizations
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Global network of executive level security contacts
- Strong oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on being able to prepare clear, comprehensive, and meaningful reports related to security matters
- Ability to utilize and interpret information obtained through a variety of sources to include interviews of people, document examination, open-source media, and video review
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Great communicator and solid project manager, able to effectively prioritize and advance many projects happening simultaneously, often on tight deadlines
- Strategic thinker with a service attitude, constantly working towards satisfying the needs of our constituents
Salary Range: 245,000-275,000
