SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join our procurement team. The Junior Buyer will be responsible for assisting in sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory levels of goods and services to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery to meet organizational needs. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to build a career in supply chain management or procurement within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or administrative purchasing support preferred.
- Knowledge of purchasing practices, inventory control, and basic contract terms.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and prioritize multiple tasks
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accuracy and follow-through.
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills.
- Customer service mindset with a proactive attitude.
- Basic negotiation and vendor management capabilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Purchase order management. Create and process purchase orders, track and confirm delivery schedules, ensure accuracy in pricing, quantities, and terms.
- Vendor Communication. Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes and product information, assist in negotiating pricing and delivery terms, maintain positive relationships with vendors.
- Data Entry & Record Keeping. Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation, update procurement databases and systems.
- Support Purchasing and Lab management. Help with sourcing strategies and supplier evaluations, prepare reports, and presentations for procurement meetings.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequently required to sit.
- Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
- Frequently required to talk or hear.
- Be able to lift 25 pounds and push and pull receiving carts.
