Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Dining Room for Service: Ensure the dining room is well-organized and sanitary before each meal service, including table settings, chairs, and floors. Ensure all menu items are available and ready for service.
- Provide Quality Service: Acknowledge residents promptly, serve hot beverages as requested, assist with menu selection, and ensure proper serving and clearing techniques. Plates should be garnished correctly with appropriate condiments. Communicate courteously with residents, guests, and staff.
- Clean and Sanitize Dining Area: After meal service, return hot food items to the kitchen, clean and sanitize all countertops, coffee pots, and other utensils. Ensure dishes are washed after proper temperatures are reached and recorded in the logbook.
- Maintain Sanitation & Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including handwashing and personal hygiene. Maintain a clean and tidy uniform. Complete daily cleaning duties after each meal and follow the scheduled cleaning duties for the day.
- Ensure Food Handling Compliance: Check and log all open food and drink products daily, discarding any items that are out of date or non-compliant.
- Ensure Safety with Cleaning Supplies: Store cleaning supplies in a locked cabinet when not in use or when you are not in the room.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the overall tone and team effort of the department. Assist with training staff on equipment and procedures and guide nursing staff on proper wait staff services.
- Person-Centered Care: Promote the concepts of choice, purpose, and meaning in the lives of residents. Adapt to each resident’s needs by observing and listening actively. Report any changes that could harm residents to the nursing staff.
- Compliance: Adhere to all CMS, OSHA, Department of Health, and HIPAA requirements to ensure resident and staff safety. Follow attendance policies and check in with the Dining Service Director at the start and end of shifts.

Qualifications:
- Familiarity with food handling procedures and the DS Waited Service Manual
- Positive and team-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to meet physical demands, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds
