St. Croix Health is looking for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Supervisor to join our Diagnostic Imaging department!  


The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operations and assists the Director of  Diagnostic Imaging in planning, coordinating, directing, staffing, budgeting, and evaluating imaging  services. Utilizes efficient use of resources to meet standards for efficiency, quality and service, patient  safety and to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. The supervisor is expected to be involved in  direct and indirect patient care related activities up to 20% of the time. 

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operational Accountability

  • Oversee the daily operations of Diagnostic Imaging
  • Maintains open, effective communication with Diagnostic Imaging Director in regard to development and performance of unit personnel
  • Collaborates with other leadership to ensure the necessary resources are in place to execute the work of the department.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation is occurring in accordance with EMR requirements and relevant compliance and policy obligations.

2. Staff Management and Development 

  • Plans, directs, and guides work of direct reports.
  • Manages and monitors department schedules, ensures adequate staffing levels and coverage based on acuity and need.
  • Ensures staff are appropriately trained and competent in performance of assigned duties; assesses competencies of staff on regular basis in accordance with established standards and practices.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops staff to promote skill development.
  • Onboards, orients, and provides ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to staff. Models and teaches these skills to others.
  • Conducts annual evaluations and necessary corrective action for assigned staff when needed
  • Track and complete staff competency assessments
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage leave of absence process for direct reports

3. Proactively investigates problems and serves as a resource for Diagnostic Imaging 

  • Provide timely and effective resolution of problems
  • Complete safety portal reports when applicable
  • Participate in department quality improvement and infection control activities
  • Review feedback with direct reports and recommend appropriate action to improve customer service and prevent errors

4. Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensures all functional areas are in full compliance with internal and external legal and regulatory standards; regularly assesses and monitors to ensure effective controls are in place and desired outcomes are achieved.
  • Ensures compliance with all record management and retention policies, provisions, and practices.

5. Other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in department quality improvement projects
  • Review and revise department policies and procedures as directed 
  • Oversee performance and documentation of preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure reports and troubleshooting logs are complete
  • Monitor and manage inventory of reagents and supplies
  • Manage staffing schedule, ensuring adequate coverage to meet workload and organization needs

Requirements

Education & Licensure: 

  • Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R.T. ARRT) or registered by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ADMS)
  • Additional certifications preferred
  • Current WI Radiographer license if registered by the ARRT
  • Basic Life Support required upon hire

Experience:

  • Must have at least 5 years (or equivalent) experience as a Radiologic Technologist or Sonographer
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight of assigned Diagnostic Imaging staff.
