Job Description

The District is seeking a highly skilled Desktop Systems Administrator to join our Desktop Technologies team. This role is responsible for administering, securing, and supporting the District’s Windows 11 enterprise desktop environment, including both Co-Managed and Cloud-Managed endpoints. The administrator will play a critical role in ensuring reliable desktop operations, patching, automation, and endpoint security using Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager (MECM), and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Desktop Administration
    • Support and maintain 2,000+ Windows 11 desktops and laptops across physical, virtual, and remote environments.
    • Administer patching, updates, and compliance enforcement through Intune and MECM.
    • Support Windows 11 Virtual Desktops in a Citrix (Nutanix-hosted) environment.
  • Automation & Scripting
    • Create and maintain PowerShell scripts and modules to automate desktop tasks such as deployments, patching, and reporting.
    • Support modern provisioning workflows including Windows Autopilot for zero-touch deployments.
    • Active Directory Group Policy Administration
  • Operating System Deployment (OSD)
    • Manage Windows 11 images, task sequences, and driver/application automation.
    • Oversee PXE boot management and maintain reliable OS deployment processes.
  • Endpoint Security & Compliance
    • Administer Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and ensure desktops meet compliance and security baselines.
    • Partner with IT Security to identify, remediate, and prevent vulnerabilities.
  • Application & Print Services
    • Package, deploy, and support a catalog of 500+ Microsoft and third-party applications, including Office 365.
    • Configure and support network printers, multi-function devices, and print management solutions (e.g., Windows Print Server, PaperCut, FollowMe).
  • Collaboration & Support
    • Work closely with Desktop Administrators, Networking, Security, and Systems teams to deliver reliable desktop services.
    • Provide Tier 3 support for escalated desktop issues requiring advanced troubleshooting.
    • Follow production change control processes to maintain a stable enterprise desktop environment.
Experience:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and MECM/Configuration Manager.
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerShell automation.
  • Active Directory Group Policy Administration.
  • Experience in Windows 11 desktop lifecycle management (OS deployment, Autopilot, imaging, patching).
  • Familiarity with enterprise endpoint security, compliance, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting Citrix VDI environments (preferred).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8+ years of experience that demonstrates measurable career and technical progression that can be applied to support both the IT Department's Annual Work Plan and the District's strategic goals and objectives. Disciplines for IT education and experience requirements include but are not limited to: Computer Science, Computer/Systems Technology, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, and Systems Engineering.

Licenses:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Due to the District’s response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
