To deliver high-quality investment services and support to Investment Managers (IMs) and clients, ensuring portfolios are managed effectively and in line with the firm’s strategic objectives and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities Client & Portfolio Support- Assist IMs in managing discretionary and advisory portfolios for a diverse client base including individuals, families, trusts, corporates, and charities.
- Support the construction, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of investment models, ensuring client portfolios remain aligned.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess investment suitability, adhering to the firm’s asset allocation framework and preferred investment list.
- Execute trades in equities, collectives, and structured products on an execution-only or instructed basis.
- Collaborate with IMs and the Research Team to contribute to the development of investment strategies.
- Monitor portfolio outliers and ensure appropriate action or documentation is in place.
- Prepare investment proposals and presentations for new and existing clients.
- Provide written and verbal commentary on market, economic, and fund developments.
- Ensure timely and accurate responses to client communications.
- Assist with quarterly client reporting and ensure tax allowances (ISA, CGT) are utilised.
- Maintain due diligence documentation for non-preferred investment solutions.
- Provide client cover during IM absences and represent the firm at meetings and events.
- Ensure personal compliance with all regulatory requirements and promote a culture of compliance within the team.
- Support administrative staff as needed and adhere to internal policies including the Training & Competence Scheme and Investment Management Practice Manual.
- Work with IMs and business development teams to support professional connections and new business opportunities.
- Minimum CISI Level 4 (RDR compliant); Level 6/7 preferred.
- Certification status under the FCA’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (Client Dealing & Functions Requiring Qualifications).
- Proven experience in private client portfolio management, including investment research, asset allocation, and alternative strategies.
- Strong understanding of financial services and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA Conduct of Business Rules, Money Laundering Regulations).
- Broad market awareness and general financial planning knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a client-first mindset.
