Leadership & Communication

  • Provides leadership and supervision of all assigned departments, including ICU, MSI, Cardiac Cath Prep & Recovery, and Special Procedures.

  • Supervises intra-procedural, pre-procedural, and post-procedural personnel.

  • Participates in hiring, transfers, disciplinary actions, and grievance resolution.

  • Acts as liaison between emergency department, inpatient areas, physicians, and specialty services.

  • Maintains effective communication among medical, surgical, cardiology, and critical care staff to ensure competency and collaboration.

  • Escalates issues and concerns to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Clinical Practice & Compliance

  • Ensures delivery of safe, evidence-based nursing care consistent with hospital and departmental policies, CDC guidelines, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Adapts nursing practice to meet age-specific criteria and current evidence-based standards.

  • Maintains knowledge of Joint Commission, AACN, SICP, CDC, CMS, Department of Health, and other applicable regulations.

  • Ensures policies and procedures related to all assigned areas are current and actively used in practice.

Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement

  • Promotes a safe, supportive environment for staff, physicians, patients, and families.

  • Leads and participates in quality improvement initiatives across all assigned units.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement methods and survey readiness.

Staffing & Scheduling

  • Develops and maintains staffing plans to ensure safe and effective patient care across multiple departments.

  • Monitors patient flow and department activity to support efficient and safe operations.

  • Manages and adjusts daily staff schedules as needed.

  • Promotes a seamless scheduling process for both elective and emergency procedures.

Staff Development & Evaluation

  • Conducts ongoing evaluation of staff performance and provides annual appraisals.

  • Meets with employees to review practice changes, expectations, and performance goals.

  • Delegates authority and responsibility appropriately to foster accountability and professional growth.

  • Collaborates with the Education Department to provide orientation, education, preceptorship, and continuing development opportunities.

Operations & Financial Accountability

  • Assists in planning and managing budgets for ICU, MSI, Cath Prep & Recovery, and Special Procedures.

  • Monitors and ensures reconciliation of charges into the billing system in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Oversees operational workflows to ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Challenges current working practices identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.


  • Graduate of a School of Nursing

  • (RN) - Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

  • Critical Care and/or Cardiovascular experience

  • Three years of progressively responsible leadership or specialty clinical experience.

  • (BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification

  • (ACLS) – Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification

  • CCHC Pharmacology Exam (successfully pass)

  • CCHC Basic Arrhythmia Exam (successfully pass)

  • MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) within 6 months of new position and must renew every 2 years.

  • (Preferred) – A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
