Umpqua Community College is located in beautiful Southern Oregon between the mountains of the Cascade Range to the east and the Coastal Range to the west. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Housing Coordinator is responsible for housing operations. The Housing Coordinator provides oversight for facilities, occupancy management, emergency/on-call support and response, and budget/revenue management. The Housing Coordinator provides training and supervision for the Resident Directors and Resident Assistants.
Position Duties
Housing Operations and Facilities, Budget:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of housing units ensuring property safety, room turnover, overall cleanliness of the building, common rooms including the kitchens, trash removal, common bathrooms. Alongside RD's and RA's, conducts room checks for safety and cleanliness.
- Working under the direction of the Director of Student Community Services, oversees the housing application process, student contracts, and cancellation policy, recommending and making appropriate changes and updates as necessary within state and federal guidelines.
- Manage student records regarding room assignments, room changes, incident reports, maintenance requests and general student intake.
- Coordinates and attends all housing move in and move out dates. Throughout each term, coordinates one-off move ins/move outs with an RD or an RA.
- Working under the direction of the Director of Student Community Services and in collaboration with the UCC Budget Manager, oversees the administration of the annual budget.
- Processes vendor purchase orders with purchasing department, and vendor invoices with invoice processing department accuracy of amounts and budget codes.
- Oversee the opening and closing operations, as well as housing needed during non-academic breaks. This includes setting up furniture, rooms, kitchens, etc.
- Manage building needs and work with UCC Facilities department on necessary repairs, projects, and upgrades.
- Professional collaboration with a variety of internal departments such as facilities and athletics, and external vendors for optimal operations.
- Works with UCC's Communications and Marketing department to maintain and update publications and website information.
- Works with UCC's Student Accounts department for all student housing billing.
- Works with UCC's IT Department for internet, data, and all technical issues in housing facilities.
- Create a vision and plan for using the residence hall facilities during non-academic breaks and collaborate with other departments.
Leadership and Supervision:
- Is the primary point of contact for all Housing students’ CARES reports.
- Provide resource referrals for students to help support student success and well-being. Ensure housing staff are appropriately trained and engaged in follow-up with students of concern.
- Assist with the planning and running of campus student events as a member of the Student Services team.
- Serve on the Resource Hub team.
General Program Administration:
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee.
- Lead the development and evaluation of departmental policies, procedures, and goals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most work is performed indoors with only occasional outdoor conditions.
Heavy lifting, moving furniture, dump/disposal runs for large item disposals; up to 100 lbs.Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Have a flexible schedule, be needed with little notice, and have availability on weekends and evenings as needed.
- Ability to function competently under pressure and effectively diffuse crisis situations.
- Ability to model open, direct, and honest communication.
- Proven experience working independently to complete projects.
- Must be able to be First Aid and CPR certified within one month of employment.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Experience in crisis management is preferred.
