We are currently seeking a temporary Structural Intern to join us this summer. In this role, you will learn essential, career-developing skills from an established team of engineers. You will gain exposure to various project types and work with clients in both the private and public sectors. As an aspiring engineer, you will see many aspects of Structural Engineering and build upon your technical ability.
In this role, you can expect to perform the following tasks. This is not an exhaustive list:
- Assist with design drawings, specifications, calculation packages, reports, and other project deliverables.
- Perform structural analysis and design calculations for structural steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and other materials to complete project documents.
- Perform construction administration duties such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and site observations.
- Produce drawings utilizing AutoCAD or Revit.
- Accompany engineers on site visits to view ongoing company projects.
- Attend client meetings and represent the civil interests of the firm.
We require:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-Accredited program.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Connections are a critical part of how we work.
We like to see:
- 12-18 hours of Civil or Architectural engineering courses
- Exposure to AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Other relevant programs could include Revit, E-Tabs, RISA, or Bluebeam.
Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur. Occasionally bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may also occur. Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.
