​This is a paid freelance and remote position. 

CBR is the #1 entertainment website and publishes up-to-the-minute news on blockbuster movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, and anime.   

As a worldwide leader, CBR operates at a rapid pace and is always looking for experienced and passionate contributors who can create original high-quality content in a timely manner. 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Core responsibility is in sourcing Anime news in a timely fashion
  • Adding news titles and sources to Asana for writers to claim 
  • Understanding of what makes a good Anime news title/angle
  • Making judgements on what is flash news vs news vs something to spike to features 
  • Ensuring quotas are hit - understanding the times when it is appropriate to overrun, and when news can be passed on/passed to features 
  • Assigning articles/communicating with writers on assignments 
  • Editing articles and prioritizing most timely edits 
  • Prepping soft/niche news for weekends 
  • Sending writer feedback/writer development
  • Writing articles when needed (especially when fastest turnaround is required on breaking news) 
  • Attending weekly team meeting

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in producing entertainment and related content.
  • In-depth familiarity with and fierce passion for anime, especially the latest anime news
  • Experience with Google Discover and feed practices. 
  • Experience with a custom CMS, preferred.
