Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the design team, in the Architecture Group, based in one of our New Brunswick offices – Fredericton or Saint John.

 

As our next Architectural Project Manager, you will:

  • Responsible for project delivery in Eastern Canada.
  • Recognizing and understanding client needs. Keep client up to date. 
  • Understand, communicate, and maintain project health and safety.
  • Revising client and subconsultant agreements (if applicable).
  • Communication to project teams, clients throughout the duration of project.
  • Identify roles and responsibilities of project team.
  • Hold regular project design coordination meetings.
  • Budget hours and manage burndowns.
  • Identify and manage project risks and associated mitigation measures.
  • Complete project invoicing and collections.
  • EXP’s Quality Management System (QMS), Safety Program, and Project Managers Guide.
  • Support proposal stage (if applicable) on Projects, RFP’s Client Requests, etc.
  • Oversee preparation of documentation in various building design phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details, models, and renderings.
  • Support the design leads with selection of building systems (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) as it relates to project budget and schedule. 
  • Conduct field reviews and report progress of construction to the client.
  • Manage and track change orders, process claims, RFI’s and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
  • Lead project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, clients, contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Determine staffing needs and recommend personnel when forming project teams.
  • Motivate project teams and elevate office culture.
  • Participate in preparation of project reports and status updates, as may be required and assist in coordination of project plans and schedules.
  • Be the main point of contact for clients and contractors for assigned projects.
  • Contribute to the mentorship and professional development of junior team members.

 

What your experience looks like:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience working as a Project Manager in Canada.
  • Detailed knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with accessibility codes, applicable building codes, energy standard as well as life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity (knowledge of the NBCC, NECB and CaGBC ZCB v2 Standard is a must).
  • Ability to oversee development of building documentation in modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit) to produce tender documents (drawings and specifications).
  • Experience with CCDC contracts and in particular Construction Management-type project delivery.
  • Experience with multiphase, complex renovations and additions as well as heritage projects is an asset.
  • Strong experience with general software (Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Newforma Project Center, Microsoft Office Suite, and Autodesk Construction Cloud).
  • Experience with Revisto and Procore is an asset.
  • Ability to check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage team to meet project schedules.
  • Strong understanding of project financials and experience managing project budgets with a construction value of $10 million or more.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written and experience liaising with clients
  • Ability to travel to project sites regionally.
  • Is a team player who is personable and has a positive attitude.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
