The Role
Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, you will lead the development of long-term underground mine plans and schedules, with a strong focus on development and production strategies. You will play a key role in supporting technical studies and projects, ensuring alignment with site objectives and operational readiness. Success in this role will require effective communication and coordination with site leadership and cross-functional teams, as well as oversight of the transition from long-term plans to short-term execution. With safety as a core value, you will be committed to delivering high-quality, actionable results.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and deliver reliable, timely, and clearly communicated long-term mine schedules.
- Be responsible for long range mine designs in both production and development.
- Manage long range production shapes and reserves.
- Create mine plans that set ambitious yet achievable targets, identifying risks, mitigation strategies, and opportunities to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
- Foster strong stakeholder engagement across key site departments, including Geology, Mine Operations, Processing, and Maintenance.
- Supervise a small group of mine technicians to support long range designs.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering
- Minimum of seven years of mine engineering experience with at least four years in mine planning, preferably in an underground mining environment
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation required and must be in good standing with the applicable provincial engineering association
- Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Strong experience in mine design, preferably with Deswik
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site via aircraft
Recommended:
- Broad experience across mine engineering functions in underground mining, including short-term planning and design, production support, ventilation, and ground control
- Previous experience in uranium mining, raise boring, long-hole stope mining
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across Mine Engineering, Geology, Project Management, site leadership, and corporate stakeholders
- Knowledge of unit costing methods for reserve analysis and cash flow modeling using financial tools
- Self-starter with strong facilitation and presentation skills (oral, written, and listening)
