The Beedie Graduate Programs team is a close-knit high-performing team that manages the graduate programs for the Beedie School of Business. This includes the recruitment, admissions, program operations, and student services for nine programs, currently encompassing 750+ students (MBA programs (in person and online), GDBA, MSc Finance). As a collaborative and supportive team, we work hard in an exciting and fast-changing industry, with a common passion for supporting the learning journey for students and creating the best experience possible to support their education.
About the Role
The Course Production Technician supports the development and delivery of high-quality online courses by building and maintaining Canvas LMS shells. Working closely with faculty and staff, this role helps to transform course materials into well-structured, accessible, and engaging online learning experiences. The technician applies program templates, organizes content, integrates multimedia, and ensures compliance with accessibility and institutional standards. Success in the role requires strong technical skills in Canvas, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight timelines. The ideal candidate is collaborative, resourceful, and committed to enhancing the student learning experience through effective use of technology.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and tech-savvy professional with strong experience in learning management systems, particularly Canvas, and a passion for supporting high-quality online education.
Qualifications
High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education and training in educational technology, computing science or a related field. 3 years of minimum experience.
An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study ad experience is acceptable.
Top occupational skills, Knowledge and abilities:
- LMS Proficiency (Canvas): Ability to set up course shells, modules, quizzes, assignments, and gradebooks.
- Course Design Support: Applying templates, learning objects, and course design standards consistently.
- Content Formatting & Organization: Structuring modules, and multimedia so courses are intuitive for students.
- Multimedia Editing: Basic skills in video/audio editing, captioning, image optimization, and graphic design.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring content accuracy, consistency, and alignment with faculty instructions.
