About the Role

The Manager, Planning & Analysis provides senior-level financial leadership, guidance, and detailed analytics, supporting informed decision-making related to financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and resource allocation. This role supports decisions involving internal and external reporting and risk management and manages organization-wide financial operations. This position leads a team that develops annual departmental budgets, prepares monthly and quarterly forecasts, conducts variance analyses, and creates financial models to drive operational excellence. Additionally, this role serves as a key strategic business partner to one or more service units within the VP Finance and Administration portfolio, delivering critical financial insights and resolving issues that significantly impact the university, often involving highly confidential information.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or relevant field, with a professional accounting designation (CPA), and eight years of related experience, including three years of supervisory experience, preferably in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  •  Excellent knowledge of Excel for strategic financial modeling, financial forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, quantitative, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Excellent financial analysis, budget planning, and financial management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge in higher education financial regulations, grant management principles, and public-sector accounting standards. 
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to resolve complex financial issues and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting financial data and analysis to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop relationships and partnerships and to work collaboratively at all levels and areas within the organization.

Additional Information

The assignment end date is March 13, 2027.

The pay range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for the position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
