Systems Administrator 

Full-time, benefits eligible

SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network, systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and network procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners to complete their work effectively, efficiently and without interruption.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Network Administration

  • Manage operational delivery and modification of network services 
  • Manage and configure network management tools, DNS, DHCP, VPN, wireless services, and other systems that support IT services. 
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Layer 2/3 switches, wireless networks, branch office vpn tunnels, VoIP phones, databases, and cloud VM architecture.  
  • Oversee configuration management, provisioning, new product and service implementations, service shutdowns, and other hardware and software changes. 
  • Update firmware of network devices as new stable release become available

 

Systems & Device Administration

  • Manage server configuration, maintenance, and security patching
  • Oversee user and device management in all agency systems
  • Create and maintain current systems documentation and diagrams
  • Monitor and contain malicious threats using EDR/MDR solutions
  • Update server, desktop, and mobile device hardware asset inventories
  • Test and confirm system backup integrity and viability
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Respond to server resource monitoring alerts
  • Audit user accounts and licenses for compliance
  • Ensures licensure and subscriptions are in compliance and current
  • Connect and troubleshoot agency printers, scanners, and fax modules

 

Other Duties

  • Respond to IT support requests (email, phone, or in-person) for their related areas of responsibility and assigned coverage times. Provide a resolution to a wide variety of common computer related issues. 
  • Responsible for providing high quality, superior customer service for IT services to various users, to employees, clients and our external partners.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends in order to provide for more effective support.
  • Serve as a member of the IT department and serve as a backup in another member’s absence 
  • Follow-up support resolutions to ensure issues have been appropriately resolved.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Attend CAMIS group and other appropriate inter-agency computer meetings as directed by the director.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines 

Bachelor/4-year degree in MIS, computer science, or related field AND 2-years hardware support/implementation experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

 

Knowledge of:  
  • Principles and best practices of technology management, infrastructure system development, and systems integration.
  • Principles and practices of network administration, access and security guidelines, troubleshooting techniques and internet technical knowledgebase services.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with Windows and Windows server administration.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with Microsoft Active Directory and/or Azure Active Directory
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with Cisco IOS systems
  • Software applications and operating systems used at CAP.
  • Administration and maintenance principles of multiple network operating domains.
  • Network topologies and protocols, and enterprise IT applications.
  • Techniques and practices for efficient and cost-effective management of resources. 
  • Project planning and management principles
  • Experience with Office 365 and Azure environments
  • Experience with an MDM system is a plus
  • Experience with Laserfiche is a plus
  • Experience with Watchguard firewalls is a plus

  • Working with software and hardware vendors and contractors.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

 

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

A valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance and review of Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report is required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Ability to lift and/or move 50lbs on occasion and occasional ladder work.
