  What is Lifebanc?


Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission.  Job Summary: 

This position is responsible for the strategic direction of our continuous improvement and business intelligence for Lifebanc. In addition, the Manager of Continuous Improvement will define, develop, and build out the business intelligence and continuous improvement infrastructure and standards. Collaborates with leadership and front-line employees to establish and execute improvement models and its application to critical initiatives. Works in partnership with Information Systems to ensure data is readily available, accurate and utilized to support operational decision making and performance monitoring.   

Essential Functions:

  • Advances the organization’s understanding and use of data in processes, performance monitoring, analysis, and strategies for improvement.
  • Leads the above department’s operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Orchestrates projects and corresponding strategies between departments, executes and manages strategic integration of new data and data stores into existing systems and infrastructure throughout the company while maintaining data integrity.
  • Establishes and executes improvement model and its application to strategic initiatives, projects and programs to deliver results.
  • Update and maintain documentation on process improvements and process performance for quality committee review and external audit review.
  • Continual evaluation of opportunities for process improvement and opportunities to increase efficiency throughout the organization.
  • Develop continuous improvement projects by partnering with senior leaders and department managers.
  • Educate and train staff on developing and executing continuous improvement projects and methodologies, including the fundamental principles of Lean and Kaizen.  
  • Advances the organization’s understanding and use of data in processes, performance monitoring, analysis, and strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure project alignment, timely execution, and achievement of milestones and results.
  • Manage resource capacity to execute and sustain projects.
  • Establishes the ongoing development and operations of a business intelligence architecture that enables fact‐based decision making and ad‐hoc analysis and insight.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, data analytics, computer science, information systems, computer engineering or similar field required. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Five years proven experience in collaborating with executive or multi-disciplinary leadership teams. 
  • Ten years business experience with at least five years of experience with process improvement programs and/or project management.  
  • Black belt preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in continuous improvement methodologies. 
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Understanding and experience with all three areas of data analysis—predictive (forecasting), descriptive (business intelligence and data mining), and prescriptive (optimization and simulation).
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with programming packages and databases, SQL experience preferred. 
  • Expertise with workflow and process flow documentation and tools (e.g. Visio)
  • Knowledge of hospital electronic medical records and healthcare and medical terminology preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Advanced research skills and experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends, identify opportunities, and then communicate the findings.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when necessary.
  • Ability to function as a team member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods of time.
