About the Department
If you have an interest in historical topics and/or historic preservation, you might be our next Museum Specialist! Under supervision from the Museum Supervisor the Museum Specialist the Museum Specialist will assist with Museum Education programs which include on site school field trips, museum special events, and museum exhibit planning for education programs. The position requires the ability to memorize interpretive materials and give presentations to large groups of children and parents, lead school group tours, and work with classroom teachers.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading large groups, working independently, enjoy school age children, and be willing to take initiative to solve problems, be flexible and adaptable to unforeseen circumstances. You need to be able to interact with the public in a pleasant and helpful manner, have time management skills,
Training for all duties will be provided.
Position Duties
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Facilitate school field trips inside the Campbell Historical Museum as scheduled Mon-Fri between 8:30am-12:30pm
- Prep museum supplies and resources for scheduled field trips which includes various tasks as assigned.
- Work independently.
- Organize groups of 20+ people.
- Apply Classroom management techniques
- Able to answer phone, email, etc.
- Represent the Campbell Museums in a positive light.
Minimum Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
- Must be over 18
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday between 8:30 am-12:30pm
- Ability to lift 35lbs. classroom tables and supplies.
