Overview: Outdoor Cap is dedicated to delivering high-quality products. This role combines the responsibilities of Inventory Control (MH 2) and Quality Control, ensuring that both the quality and logistical aspects of product handling meet the company’s standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, big-picture thinker, and a team player who can also work independently. 

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Quality Control Responsibilities: 

  • Perform general and specific quality control tasks aimed at continuous process improvement.
  • Evaluate internal embroidery production, patch operations, and imported products to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Review PDS, Salesforce data, customer requests, and designs for accuracy and consistency.
  • Assess and report on the quality of pick-pack operations, focusing on reducing delivery errors.
  • Compare imported products against approved samples, checking for fabric, color, dimensions, artwork, labels, and packaging accuracy.
  • Record and report defects, collaborating with internal partners and suppliers to address issues.
  • Manage inventory status in the ERP system to prevent defective products from being shipped.
  • Investigate customer complaints, trace back to root causes, and isolate affected inventory.
  • Maintain and update QC reports for business intelligence and accounting purposes.

 

Inventory Control Responsibilities: 

  • Read and comprehend shipment summaries, purchase orders, and related documents.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and work with warehouse team to locate lost inventory. 
  • Accurately pick, sort, and transfer freight within the warehouse.
  • Assist with labeling and checking orders to ensure compliance with customer guidelines.
  • Operate hand-held scanners, tagging guns, and, if certified, equipment like forklifts and reach trucks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
  • Participate in department meetings, provide feedback, and assist in various warehouse tasks.
  • Execute the company’s mission, vision, and values in daily operations.

 

Skills and Competencies 

  • Ability to hear, read and comprehend (in English), operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, short correspondence, work orders and bills of lading. Ability to read product specifications, ability to read a tape measure, knowledge of ERP system.
  • Understands the SKU process and recognize inaccuracies in product, packaging, case pack and description
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations with co-workers and/or supervisors.
  • Basic Math: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Excellent Hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions dealing with standardized situations; and able to learn quickly.
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task, extremely organized and able to follow directions (written and oral) with extreme accuracy.
  • Trained and certified on various lifts: forklift, reach truck, stock picker, etc.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and a strong work ethic

 

Education and Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or general education degree preferred, but not mandatory
  • 1+ years of distribution center experience
  • Prior lift certifications a plus
  • Verifiable work history
  • Microsoft Office and WMS systems experience preferred for Level 2

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Must be able to stand and or walk (90% of the day) and occasionally reach, bend and move inside the facility to move product. May occasionally climb stairs, ladders or scaffolds
  • Fine motor skills: required using the wrists, hands, and fingers to pull and inspect orders
  • Vision: Required to have close visual acuity, color vision and depth perception
  • Able to hear and effectively communicate with peers
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50+ lbs. continually throughout day
  • Moderate dust and noise due to warehouse operations
  • Extreme temperatures: this position will work in a building that does not have climate controls.
