IT Security Engineer

Sentar is seeking an IT Security Engineer in Huntsville, AL for NASA Payload Missions and Operations Center!
Role Description:
An IT Security Engineer role involves protecting NASA systems and data from cyber threats. In this role, the individual monitors security breaches, conducts risk assessments, and develops/implements key architectural defensive strategies to safeguard mission critical data and systems. The individual works with cutting-edge technology to defend and protect against cyber-attacks.
- Consults in risk assessments of infrastructure and applications based on threats and vulnerabilities.
- Assists in technical and forensic investigations in response to threats and incidents and participates in the development and implementation of solutions to mitigate and/or eliminate risk.
- Demonstrates understanding of security and controls policies, processes, and procedures through application in situations where security consultations are requested.
- Assists in consultations regarding security and controls architecture.
- Evaluates the state of security and controls within the scope of control reviews.
- Provides consultation on security and controls both within the enterprise and with agency security teams.
- Identifies areas of risk on projects where security requirements cannot be fully addressed in the required time frame of the project.
- Provides expertise in the areas of IT security (active support in the choice of tool and in their implementation.
- Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security efforts. Conduct systematic security assessments of solutions (including on premise and external solutions such as SaaS, Cloud Solutions) to identify security risks
- Provides advice to the stakeholders to mitigate the security risks and validate compliance with NASA security requirements
- Designs, implements and tests compliant network security systems and solutions, including digital and cloud
- Ensures new solutions are implemented "Secure & Compliant by Design" following a risk-based methodology
- In conjunction with the NASA Security Operations Center, provides an incident investigation and response service.
- Defines, manages & derives IT security requirements
- Facilitates and participates in risk management activities related to IT security
Qualifications:
Clearance Level:
- Ability to obtain a NASA badge and be a US citizen
Education:
- Minimum of a B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT related field of study
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years preferred
- 3 years minimum experience in security related field
- Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps
- Familiarity with Cloud environments
Certifications:
- Min Security+ce, CISSP preferred
