Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Systems Analyst to support the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in maintaining compliance across its IT systems, applications, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will contribute to a robust security compliance program that aligns with federal mandates, NOAA/DOC policies, and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit Program Development:
Assist in designing and executing a comprehensive audit program, including technical security assessments, configuration compliance reviews, and vulnerability assessments tailored to NMFS's IT environment and regulatory requirements (e.g., FISMA, Privacy Act). - Policy and Procedure Review:
Evaluate existing NMFS IT security policies and procedures, offering recommendations to enhance their effectiveness and ensure alignment with federal regulations and industry best practices. - Reporting and Documentation:
Generate clear, detailed, and actionable audit reports that document findings, categorize risks, and provide practical remediation recommendations. Support tracking and follow-up on remediation activities. - Compliance Consultation:
Provide expert guidance on interpreting and applying federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), FISMA reporting requirements, and privacy regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Foundational understanding of federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with NIST RMF, FISMA, and Privacy Act requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting federal IT compliance programs
- Exposure to audit tools and vulnerability assessment platforms
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CAP, or similar)
